Westside Ballet presented its "Masters of Movement" performances at The Broad Stage on May 31 and June 1, 2025. The event featured New York City Ballet principals Tiler Peck and Roman Mejia, alongside local dancers, honoring Los Angeles and Santa Monica Fire & Police first responders.
The Saturday evening Gala on May 31 paid tribute to first responders with the Huntley Santa Monica Beach Community Arts Award, recognizing their service during the recent Palisades and Altadena fires. Jerome Robbins' celebrated *Other Dances*, performed by Peck and Mejia with live piano accompaniment, was a highlight. The Gala also featured Robbins' *Circus Polka*, showcasing Westside's youngest dancers, staged by former NYCB soloist Zippora Karz.
Performances also included Justin Peck's "Bloom," a pas de deux featuring Los Angeles Ballet dancers Kate Inoue and Marcos Ramirez. Additionally, 12-year-old Spencer Collins, winner of the Hope Award at the 2025 Youth America Grand Prix Finals, performed. Westside Ballet has been a cultural cornerstone in Santa Monica since 1973, offering summer programs including advanced workshops and children's themed camps.
