The Rolling Stones Celebrate 50th Anniversary of "Black and Blue" with Expansive Super Deluxe Reissue

Edited by: Inna Horoshkina One

The Rolling Stones are commemorating the 50th anniversary of their influential 1976 album, "Black and Blue," with a comprehensive Super Deluxe reissue scheduled for release on November 14, 2025.

This extensive reissue will be available in both 5-LP and 4-CD formats, each accompanied by a Blu-ray disc, a 100-page book, and a replica tour poster. A special limited edition marbled vinyl will also be offered for collectors. The new mix of "Black and Blue" has been crafted by Steven Wilson, promising a fresh sonic perspective on the classic tracks.

The collection notably includes six previously unreleased recordings. Among these are the Jagger/Richards penned song "I Love A Lady" and a cover of Shirley & Company's "Shame, Shame, Shame," which is currently available for streaming with an accompanying music video. The reissue also features four instrumental jams from the band's 1975 sessions, offering insight into their creative process with guest guitarists.

Further enhancing the release is a complete live concert recording from the band's six-night residency at London's Earls Court in May 1976, which included guest musicians. The Blu-ray disc will present a previously unreleased television broadcast from Paris in 1976, alongside Dolby Atmos surround sound mixes of both the studio album and the live concert recording.

"Black and Blue," originally released in April 1976, marked a significant transition for The Rolling Stones, being their first album after guitarist Mick Taylor's departure. The recording sessions were a period of exploration, with various guitarists auditioning for Taylor's replacement, including Ronnie Wood, who eventually became a permanent member. The album itself blended the band's signature rock sound with elements of funk, soul, and reggae.
