The vibrant sounds of Nigeria are set to make a powerful mark at the upcoming 2026 Grammy Awards, as artists officially submit their entries for consideration.
The submission window closed on August 29, 2025, marking the start of the Recording Academy’s detailed selection process.
Official nominations will be announced on November 7, 2025, ahead of the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 1, 2026, in Los Angeles.

Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has submitted multiple entries, including his album Morayo for Album of the Year and Best Global Album.
Released in November 2024 as a personal tribute to his late mother, Morayo captures emotional depth and sonic maturity.
His single Piece of My Heart, released in October 2024, is being considered for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Both Piece of My Heart and Kese (Dance) from the Morayo album achieved record-breaking daily streaming numbers in Nigeria on Spotify.

Burna Boy, a consistent Grammy presence, has submitted his latest album No Sign of Weakness for Album of the Year and Best Global Album, continuing his streak of acclaimed releases and international recognition.
Meanwhile, rising sensation Ayra Starr has entered her hit Hot Body for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, alongside her collaboration with Wizkid, Gimme Dat, competing in Best African Music Performance and Best Music Video categories.

Further amplifying Nigeria’s global presence, Davido joined the Recording Academy as a voting member in September 2024, marking a significant milestone for African representation in the Grammy process.
“This moment matters,” Davido shared. “Being part of the Grammy voting process means our voices are finally shaping how global music is recognized.”

According to Spotify, Afrobeats listenership grew by over 550% between 2017 and 2022, followed by an astonishing 2,500% rise in 2023.
The genre’s addition of a dedicated Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys in 2023 further solidified its global standing.

The collective rise of Nigerian artists — their innovation, rhythm, and cultural pride — reflects more than chart success.
It signals a new era where African sound leads the global pulse
