Emma Pollock, renowned frontwoman of the influential Scottish band The Delgados, is set to release her fourth solo album, "Begging The Night To Take Hold," on September 26, 2025. This new collection is deeply influenced by her autism diagnosis received last year, which has provided a new perspective on her life experiences and creative process.
The album features contributions from cellist Pete Harvey and pianist Graeme Smillie. The lead single, "Prize Hunter," has already been released, characterized by its vibrant bassline and introspective themes. Other tracks, such as "Future Tree," explore Pollock's reflections on daily distractions and focus.
Pollock's creative output is complemented by an extensive UK tour scheduled for October 2025. This tour follows The Delgados' reunion shows in 2022. The tour dates include stops in Newcastle upon Tyne on October 16, Coventry on October 17, Bristol on October 18, London on October 19, Cambridge on October 20, Hull on October 21, Manchester on October 22, Perth on October 24, Stirling on October 25, Edinburgh on October 26, Aberdeen on October 28, and concluding in Glasgow on October 29. Tickets for the tour went on sale on July 11, 2025.
This new album arrives nine years after Pollock's previous solo release, "In Search Of Harperfield." The creation of "Begging The Night To Take Hold" took place during and immediately after the COVID-19 pandemic, with long-term collaborator Paul Savage serving as producer and drummer. Pollock has also shared personal revelations about her experiences with menopause and its impact on her mental health, which prompted her autism diagnosis, infusing the work with enhanced poignancy.
