Selena Gomez hinted at new music during the 2025 Oscars, playfully teasing, "We are leaking it." This comes despite her previous statements about potentially stepping back from music to focus on her successful acting career, including roles in *Emilia Perez* and *Only Murders in the Building*. Gomez had expressed difficulty returning to music after finding fulfillment in film and art-making. She acknowledged her strength lies in acting but values storytelling through ballads in music, suggesting a possible shift in her musical direction.

Social media personality Chloe San Jose launched her music career with her debut single, "FR FR" (for real, for real), released on March 7 under Star Pop. San Jose describes the song as about authenticity and staying true to oneself. A full album featuring seven tracks is expected later in 2025. Bunji Garlin's song "Carry It," a Road March contender, received a boost with a remix featuring Nicki Minaj. This collaboration follows Minaj's feature on Trinidad Killa's song "Eskimo." The Road March title is also being contested by Machel Montano's "Pardy."
