Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester has shared the reason why she and actor Adam Brody chose to forgo a traditional wedding ceremony when they married in 2014. In a recent interview with Bustle, Meester explained her decision, emphasizing her desire for a more intimate and private experience.
“On sets and in life, I've been able to wear a fancy dress and hit a mark and say lines, and I didn't want it to feel like that,” Meester said. She wanted the occasion to feel personal and genuine, rather than a performance.
Meester clarified that she does appreciate attention as an actor. The couple, who met in 2011 and began dating in 2013, had a small, intimate ceremony with close family and friends in Northern California.
In the same interview, Meester discussed her evolving perspective on life and career since becoming a mother. She expressed a preference for living in the moment and embracing uncertainty about the future.
Meester also spoke about the recent passing of her friend and Gossip Girl co-star, Michelle Trachtenberg. She described Trachtenberg's death as devastating, remembering her as a wonderful and talented person.
