Freddie Mercury's sister, Kashmira Bulsara, reportedly spent millions secretly buying back her brother's memorabilia at auction. This occurred after Mary Austin, Mercury's former partner and primary heir, put hundreds of his items up for sale at Sotheby's two years ago.
Bulsara was allegedly upset to see Mercury's personal items being sold. She arranged to purchase them anonymously through her son and an assistant, according to The Sun.
Among the items Bulsara acquired were a Wurlitzer jukebox for £406,400, a vest worn in the "These Are the Days of Our Lives" music video for £139,700, and a military-style jacket for £457,200. She also purchased handwritten lyrics for "Killer Queen" for £279,400.
Mercury left half of his £75 million estate to Austin, including his Garden Lodge home. Another 25% went to his parents, later passing to Austin after their deaths. The remaining 25% went to Kashmira.
Austin also reportedly received £187.5 million from the sale of Queen's music catalog to Sony last year.
