17:57, 25 July

Edited by: Anulyazolotko Anulyazolotko

The Hunger Games franchise is expanding with the release of "Sunrise on the Reaping," a prequel novel by Suzanne Collins, set to hit shelves on March 18, 2025. This installment delves into the 50th Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy from District 12. The narrative explores themes of political manipulation, propaganda, and societal control under a totalitarian regime, offering readers a deeper understanding of Panem's dystopian society.

Following the novel's release, a film adaptation is scheduled for November 20, 2026. Directed by Francis Lawrence, who has helmed previous Hunger Games films, the movie aims to bring the story to life on the big screen. The cast includes Joseph Zada as young Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, and Ralph Fiennes portraying President Snow. Other notable cast members are Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, and Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman. The film is expected to begin filming in July 2025, with production details to be announced as the date approaches.

Fans of the series can anticipate a deeper exploration of the events leading up to the original Hunger Games trilogy, providing context and background to the characters and the world they inhabit. The prequel aims to enrich the existing narrative, offering new insights into the origins of key figures and the political landscape of Panem.
