The Portuguese documentary 'The Indomitable Viscount' ('O Visconde Indomável') has been honored with the Gold Award in the Documentary – History category at the World Media Festival 2025 in Berlin, Germany. The film was shot in locations including Ribeira Brava, Madeira, Vidigueira, Alentejo, and Lisbon.
The documentary consists of two 50-minute episodes and explores the life of Francisco Correia de Herédia, Viscount of Ribeira Brava, a key figure known for his political activism during the transition from the constitutional monarchy to the First Republic. Episódio Proeza Filmes, a company based in Madeira and led by Jéssica Gouveia and João Francisco Santos, produced the documentary, which was directed by José Abrantes and features cinematography by João Paulo Santos. The municipalities of Vidigueira and Ribeira Brava supported the project.
Actress Inês Herédia, the great-great-granddaughter of the Viscount, appears in the documentary, adding a personal connection to the historical narrative. This is the second award for the documentary, with its trailer having been recognized in the Marketing and Promotions category last year.
