Actor Nicholas Galitzine has been cast in the dual role of Prince Adam and his heroic alter-ego, He-Man. To embody the physical prowess of the Most Powerful Man in the Universe, Galitzine underwent a rigorous six-month training program involving heavy weightlifting and complex stunt choreography. His preparation also included a strict nutritional plan, consuming approximately 4,000 calories daily to build the necessary muscle mass for the role.
The supporting cast features a lineup of Hollywood heavyweights and rising stars. The formidable antagonist Skeletor will be portrayed by Jared Leto, while Idris Elba joins the ensemble as the loyal mentor and master-at-arms, Duncan. Camila Mendes is set to embody the courageous captain of the guard, Teela, and Alison Brie will take on the role of the master of dark magic, Evil-Lyn. These actors are working under the direction of Knight, who intends to embrace the inherent eccentricities of the franchise. Rather than shying away from the more colorful and eccentric elements of the 1980s lore, the production is leaning into these unique aspects, integrating them into a script that explains the eccentricities of this vibrant alien world.
Principal photography for the film took place in London, England, with the main stage of production spanning from January to June 2025. To create a visually rich and immersive environment, the production enlisted the talents of cinematographer Fabian Wagner and composer Daniel Pemberton. Their collaboration aims to build a world that feels both fantastical and grounded, ensuring that the diverse landscapes of Eternia are captured with modern cinematic fidelity. This artistic vision is designed to bridge the gap between long-term enthusiasts of the property and a new generation of moviegoers who are experiencing the world of He-Man for the first time.
Parallel to the film's production, Mattel is executing a massive global brand revival strategy inspired by the successful marketing model used for the Barbie movie. A comprehensive lineup of products, including apparel, collectibles, and toys, is scheduled for a worldwide retail launch on April 25, 2026, more than a month before the film's premiere. This initiative involves partnerships with over 70 global retailers and features the debut of a Core Collection of 5.5-inch scale action figures and a high-fidelity replica of the iconic Power Sword. By coordinating this retail blitz with the cinematic release, Mattel aims to maintain the brand's momentum through 2026 and 2027, turning the film's debut into a multi-year cultural event.
