Director Martin Bourboulon, known for family comedies and literary adaptations, is set to release his new film, "13 Days, 13 Nights." This historical drama, scheduled for June 27, 2025, is inspired by Mohamed Bida's book, "13 Days, 13 Nights in the Hell of Kabul."
The film recounts the evacuation of the French embassy in Kabul in August 2021 during the Taliban's takeover. Roschdy Zem plays Commander Mohamed Bida, who, along with his men, secures the embassy as thousands of Afghans seek refuge. Trapped, the commander negotiates with the Taliban to organize a last-chance convoy with the help of Eva, a young Franco-Afghan humanitarian, played by Lyna Khoudri.
The film was presented out of competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation. Produced by Dimitri Rassam and Ardavan Safaee, the film was shot in Casablanca, Morocco, from May 20 to August 2, 2024. "13 Days, 13 Nights" is highly anticipated and promises a gripping portrayal of a critical historical event.
