The BBC has launched a subscription service for U.S. users in 2025, marking a significant step in its international revenue strategy. The service provides unlimited access to news, features, and live streams of the BBC News channel.

Priced at $49.99 annually or $8.99 monthly, the subscription offers ad-free documentaries, early-release podcasts, and exclusive newsletters. BBC.com reaches 139 million global visitors, with nearly 60 million in the U.S.

This move aims to capitalize on the U.S. market's willingness to pay for premium content. Rebecca Glashow, CEO of BBC Studios Global Media and Streaming, highlighted the growth in the BBC's North American audience. This initiative aligns with the BBC's efforts to diversify its funding sources and ensure its long-term sustainability.
