The 28th edition of the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) is currently underway, showcasing a diverse array of films from around the world. The festival, which began on July 25, 2025, and runs through August 3, 2025, is being held across three cities: Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, and Irapuato. This year's theme, "In Free Fall," draws inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 psychological thriller "Vertigo," and includes a focus on the role of artificial intelligence in cinema.

GIFF 2025 features 206 films from 61 countries, including 18 world premieres and 51 Mexican premieres. The festival offers free screenings, workshops, and panels, making it accessible to a wide audience. Notable events include the "Epicentro" program, which presents immersive virtual reality experiences and discussions on filmmaking technology, and the "Women in Innovation" panel, highlighting the contributions of women in the film industry. Additionally, the festival honors distinguished figures in Mexican cinema, such as actress Verónica Castro and TV producer Rosy Ocampo, with special awards and tributes.
