HBO has announced the lead cast for its highly anticipated 'Harry Potter' series, set to begin filming in the summer of 2025. Dominic McLaughlin will star as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The series is scheduled to premiere on HBO Max in 2026.

The casting decision follows an extensive search involving over 30,000 actors. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod expressed their excitement about the chosen actors. They also thanked all the children who auditioned, noting the extraordinary talent they witnessed.

McLaughlin, Stanton, and Stout, mostly newcomers, join a cast including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall. The series aims to capture the magic of the original books while introducing a new generation to the wizarding world. Each season will be a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling's books.
