Director Greta Gerwig has officially commenced filming for her adaptation of C.S. Lewis' "The Magician's Nephew" in London. This project marks Gerwig's first collaboration with Netflix for the "Chronicles of Narnia" franchise. Principal photography began on August 13, 2025, and is scheduled to continue until March 2026.
The film is slated for a U.S. theatrical release in November 2026, with a subsequent debut on Netflix. Early reports indicate a star-studded cast, with Emma Mackey reportedly playing the White Witch, Daniel Craig as Uncle Andrew, Meryl Streep rumored to voice Aslan, and Carey Mulligan set to appear as Mabel Kirke. Set photos suggest a departure from the book's original late 19th-century Victorian setting, with scenes appearing to be filmed in a post-war 1950s London.
