Irish actor Colin Farrell is set to be honored with the prestigious Golden Icon Award at the 20th Zurich Film Festival (ZFF). The festival, scheduled to run from September 25 to October 5, 2025, will present Farrell with the award on September 27 during a special gala event.
Farrell will be recognized for his significant contributions to cinema and his captivating performance in the upcoming psychological thriller "Ballad of a Small Player," directed by Edward Berger. The film, based on Lawrence Osborne's 2014 novel, follows a high-stakes gambler in Macau whose past catches up with him. Farrell will also present "Ballad of a Small Player" at the festival. Festival director Christian Jungen praised Farrell as a "passionate and charismatic character actor," highlighting his versatility and his compelling performance in Farrell's latest film, stating that he "carries the film from beginning to end, taking us on an emotional roller coaster."
