The Australian horror film 'Dangerous Animals' has officially premiered in Brazilian cinemas today, September 18, 2025, distributed by Diamond Films.

Directed by Sean Byrne and written by Nick Lepard, the film stars Hassie Harrison as Zephyr, a free-spirited surfer, and Jai Courtney as Tucker, a serial killer with a fascination for sharks. The plot follows Zephyr's terrifying ordeal after being abducted by Tucker and held captive on his boat, where she witnesses his brutal murders of other hostages, documented as he feeds them to sharks.

The film garnered attention earlier in 2025 with its screening at the Cannes Film Festival, where director Sean Byrne emphasized his intention to focus on the human element of terror rather than demonizing sharks. 'Dangerous Animals' was filmed on the Gold Coast and blends real shark footage with dramatic sequences. Jai Courtney's performance as the shark-obsessed serial killer has been praised for its blend of charisma and menace, while Hassie Harrison delivers a compelling performance as the resilient Zephyr.

Described as a mix of "Jaws" and "The Silence of the Lambs," 'Dangerous Animals' was released theatrically in the United States on June 6, 2025, and in Australia on June 12, 2025. It has grossed approximately $7.6 million worldwide against a $2 million budget and holds an 87% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 171 reviews.
