Apple TV+ Announces Holiday Programming Lineup for 2023

Apple TV+ has unveiled its holiday programming lineup for 2023, featuring a mix of original specials and classic favorites to celebrate the festive season.

New Original Specials:

  • “The Velveteen Rabbit” – Premiering November 22, this 40-minute special adapts Margery Williams' classic children's book, telling the story of a young boy who discovers the magic of unconditional love through his favorite toy. The special combines live-action and animation, with Phoenix Laroche starring as William and Alex Lawther voicing the Velveteen Rabbit. Other cast members include Helena Bonham Carter, Nicola Coughlan, and Bethany Antonia. The special is produced by Magic Light Pictures, known for their work on "The Gruffalo" and "Revolting Rhymes."

  • “Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas” – Also debuting on November 22, this musical event features Emmy Award-winning actress Hannah Waddingham celebrating the holidays with special guests at the London Coliseum. The special is recorded live and includes performances of festive classics accompanied by a big band. It is produced by Done + Dusted, the team behind "Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special," and directed by BAFTA Award winner Hamish Hamilton.

    • Classic Holiday Specials:

    • “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” – Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this special will be available for free streaming from October 21 to October 22. The story follows Peppermint Patty inviting herself and others to Charlie Brown's for Thanksgiving, leading to a series of humorous events.

  • “A Charlie Brown Christmas” – Available for free streaming from December 16 to December 17, this special features Charlie Brown directing the gang's holiday play and discovering the true meaning of Christmas.

    • Additional Holiday Content:

    • “Spirited” Sing-Along Version – Starting December 1, a sing-along version of the holiday musical comedy "Spirited," starring Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, and Octavia Spencer, will be available on Apple TV+. This version allows viewers to sing along to fan-favorite tunes composed by Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

  • “The Making of ‘Spirited’” – Also premiering December 1, this behind-the-scenes special offers never-before-seen rehearsal footage featuring the cast of "Spirited." The film has been acclaimed as an instant Christmas classic.

    • Apple TV+ continues to expand its holiday offerings, providing a diverse selection of content for viewers to enjoy during the festive season.
