Doğan Ümit Karaca's "Buğday Tanesi," starring Ahmet Kutsi Karadoğan, Deniz Arna, and Erkan Bektaş, has been awarded "Best Film" at the International Bangladesh Film Festival. The film, which portrays Bayram's life struggles, competed against 1264 films from 104 countries. This adds to the film's accolades, having already won awards at numerous international festivals since its release in 2022.
In other news, Burkinabè director Dani Kouyaté won the prestigious Étalon d'or 2025 at FESPACO for his film "Katanga." This marks Burkina Faso's return to the top of the festival after 28 years. Kouyaté dedicated the award to the people of Burkina Faso and those who defended the country. The Silver Stallion went to Moe Araway (Somalia) for "The village next to paradise", and the Bronze Stallion to Rungano Nuni (Zambia).
