Edited by: Екатерина С.

Marseille will host the inaugural Slow Fashion Week in France, scheduled from June 7th to 14th. The event is organized in partnership with the City of Marseille and initiated by the local collective Baga. This collective comprises 80 individuals involved in ethical and sustainable fashion, including instructors, designers, brands, and vintage boutiques.

This marks the first Slow Fashion Week in both France and globally. The week-long event will feature approximately 50 events dedicated to ethical, eco-responsible, and sustainable fashion. These include fashion shows, participatory workshops, open houses, exhibitions, conferences, and upcycling workshops.

The "Slow" Fashion Week will take place throughout the city. Locations range from Rue Ferrari to the Corniche, Boulevard de la Libération, the Cloître Saint Jérôme, and the Palais du Pharo. Every corner of the city will be utilized to showcase the events.

Participating brands were required to meet the criteria of the collective's charter. This includes reasonable production, a circular approach, consideration of unsold product outlets, and a sharing approach. According to Charlotte Labigne, co-founder of the Baga collective, many applicants were turned down to maintain focus on sustainable fashion.
