eBay is reigniting its commitment to sustainable style with the return of its Endless Runway initiative for the 2025 fashion month. This program, now in its second year, underscores the escalating importance of pre-loved fashion within the global apparel industry.
The initiative will feature collaborations with esteemed designers including Erdem, Luar, Altuzarra, Kallmeyer, and Ahluwalia. These designers will integrate pre-owned pieces from their past collections into their upcoming Spring/Summer 2026 presentations, weaving a narrative of enduring style and conscious consumption. The fashion calendar will see these collections showcased in New York on September 10, 2025, and in London on September 18, 2025. For those unable to attend in person, both events will be broadcast live via eBay Live and Instagram, offering a front-row seat to the future of fashion and the opportunity to shop featured pre-loved designer pieces in real-time.
Beyond the runway, eBay will also present daily curated selections of pre-loved designer items throughout New York and London Fashion Weeks. These collections will highlight pieces from the designers participating in the shows, emphasizing the timeless appeal and inherent sustainability of pre-owned fashion. The initiative is further bolstered by the support of prominent fashion councils such as the CFDA, BFC, and FMC, reinforcing the industry's collective dedication to circular fashion and responsible practices.
The pre-loved fashion market is experiencing unprecedented growth. Globally, second-hand clothing sales are projected to soar, with some reports indicating a 127% increase by 2026, significantly outpacing the overall clothing market. In 2022 alone, second-hand clothing sales rose by 24% worldwide, reaching $119 billion. North America leads this surge, with the market expanding at eight times the rate of the overall fashion industry. By the close of 2025, pre-owned items are expected to constitute 10% of all clothing sales in the U.S., translating to an estimated $31 billion annually. This trend reflects a broader shift away from fast fashion towards more considered and sustainable choices.
Alexis Hoopes, VP of Global Fashion at eBay, stated, "eBay is where vintage finds, pre-loved pieces, and emerging designer fashion converge – offering the most dynamic selection, for the most diverse fashion marketplace in the world. With eBay Endless Runway, we're continuing to prove that pre-loved fashion is leading the global conversation around circularity." Erdem Moralıoğlu, founder and Creative Director of Erdem, commented, "I am thrilled to partner with eBay Endless Runway for spring/summer 2026. Reimagining an archival Erdem look within a circular fashion format offers a unique opportunity to explore continuation of a narrative, design and sustainability."
