Venice, Italy - Latin American nations are making a significant impact at the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale, showcasing how contemporary architecture can reconnect with its roots and learn from the past. The Biennale, themed "Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective," explores the convergence of architecture, art, AI, and technology.
Several Latin American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay, are presenting exhibits that highlight their unique cultures and identities. These contributions emphasize the importance of ancestral knowledge, natural resources, and innovative technologies in addressing modern challenges.
Brazil and Mexico are focusing on researching and mapping their territories to explore the use of traditional construction methods in harmony with agriculture and the natural landscape. Uruguay is highlighting water as a vital element of its history, culture, and development, considering that water constitutes over half of its territory. Peru and Argentina are reimagining elements like the silobolsa and totora, adapting them to meet contemporary needs. Chile is prompting discussions on artificial intelligence policies through a reflective working group. The Biennale is open to the public from May 10 to November 23, 2025.
