North Macedonia's project "Strada Brutalism," curated by Dr. Blagoja Bajkovski, Dr. Ana Rafajlovska, M-r Nevenka Mančeva Ažievska, and M-r Marija Antić Nikolovska, will represent the country at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia, from May 10 to November 23, 2025. "Strada Brutalism" focuses on Skopje's brutalist architecture, a unique and paradigmatic layer of the city's post-earthquake history. The project aims to activate architectural intelligence inherent in Skopje's brutalist heritage, presenting it as a dynamic choice for contemporary architectural discipline. The project highlights the capital works of Macedonian modern architecture following the catastrophic earthquake of 1963. The exhibition, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of North Macedonia, will feature three levels: a documentary-historical overview, a critical reflection, and an artistic-creative interpretation.
