World's tallest 3d-printed tower rises in swiss town

Edited by: Ек Soshnikova

The world's tallest 3D-printed tower, Tor Alva, has been erected in Mulegns, Switzerland.

A partnership between ETH Zurich and the Origen cultural foundation led to the creation of the structure in the depopulated town.

Architect Michael Hansmeyer and ETH Professor Benjamin Dillenburger employed robotic assistance and innovative additive manufacturing to build the load-bearing structure without formwork.

The tower consists of 32 sculptured white concrete columns, forming a naturalistic and futuristic design.

For the next five years, Tor Alva will remain in Mulegns, hosting guided tours and staged performances.
