ESA to Broadcast 'The Blue Danube' into Space in Celebration of Anniversaries

Edited by: Uliana S.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is set to broadcast Johann Strauss II's 'The Blue Danube' into space this Saturday. This event commemorates ESA's 50th anniversary and the composer's 200th birthday.

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra will perform the waltz live in Austria, with a radio antenna in Spain simultaneously broadcasting the music beyond Earth's atmosphere. This broadcast seeks to rectify the omission of the waltz from the Voyager Golden Record.

The transmission will serve as a sonic ambassador, representing Earth's elegance and creative achievements to the cosmos.
