The Vietnam Coast Guard has successfully rescued three fishing vessels that encountered difficulties during Typhoon 1, safeguarding fishermen and their boats amidst severe weather conditions. The rescue operations highlight the critical role of maritime authorities in ensuring safety at sea.

On June 11th, the fishing vessel QNa 92954 TS, captained by Nguyen Van Sau, experienced engine failure while fishing off the coast of Quang Ngai, leaving it adrift in strong winds of level 7-8. The Coast Guard immediately dispatched ship 319 from Ly Son Island to provide assistance. During the rescue, ship 319 received information about another distressed vessel, QNa 92032 TS, nearby.

Despite adverse weather, ship 319 reached and safely rescued both fishing vessels, bringing them back to Ly Son Island. On the same day, the fishing vessel DNa 91107 TS suffered a gearbox malfunction, leading to water ingress while operating near Cu Lao Cham. Ship 363 towed DNa 91107 TS to a storm shelter.

Typhoon 1 is currently causing heavy rainfall and strong winds, increasing the risk of flooding, landslides, and flash floods. Authorities are monitoring the situation and implementing timely measures to protect the lives and property of the population.
