Heavy Rainfall Causes Flooding in Tamil Nadu, India

Significant rainfall has caused widespread flooding in Tamil Nadu, India, over the past two days. The 'Red Alert' issued on June 14th and 15th, indicated the severity of the situation. Several districts have been severely impacted, with reports of inundated roads and homes. The intensity of the rainfall has led to substantial waterlogging and disruption of daily life. In the last 24 hours, the Nilgiris district recorded the highest rainfall, measuring 143 mm. Other areas also experienced heavy downpours. These included CheranKodu with 79 mm, Upper Bhavani with 72 mm, Devala with 69 mm, O'Valley with 43 mm, and several others. The continuous rainfall has led to the closure of schools and colleges in the affected areas.
