Pertamina Foundation is actively involved in environmental conservation and reforestation efforts through its 'Sustainable Forest' program. This initiative focuses on planting mangrove and terrestrial trees, providing seedlings, and empowering local communities.

As of May 2025, over 1.2 million mangrove seedlings have been planted in the Mahakam Sustainable Forest, located in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Additionally, more than 1.4 million terrestrial trees, including various species, have been planted in the Getas-Ngandong Sustainable Forest.

The program emphasizes community involvement, providing training on harvesting and processing nipah sap, solar-powered hydroponic cultivation, and rainwater harvesting facilities. Furthermore, Pertamina Foundation has established educational tourism platforms to showcase local flora and fauna.

The 'Sustainable Forest' program also supports research, with findings published in the Biodiversitas Journal of Biological Biodiversity. Moreover, social forestry programs are implemented in 13 locations across Indonesia, assisting 3,795 forest-adjacent farmers with seedlings, organic fertilizer management, and forest conservation education. These efforts have resulted in the reforestation of 68 hectares with productive trees.

This initiative aligns with Pertamina's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 13, 14, and 15. The program aims to sustain environmental conservation while improving the well-being of communities near the forests.
