Bali's Coastline Bolstered by 4,000 Mangrove Saplings in Kodim and QNET Initiative

DENPASAR, BALI – On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, a significant environmental effort was undertaken along Bali's coastline as the Badung Military District Command (Kodim) 1611, in collaboration with lifestyle and health company QNET, planted 4,000 mangrove saplings.
The initiative, located within the Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park in Denpasar, is designed to strengthen the island's defenses against coastal abrasion and erosion. Colonel Inf Putu Tangkas Wiratawan, Commander of Kodim 1611/Badung, stated that this mangrove planting is a key component of Army Chief of Staff General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak's "Uniting with Nature Towards a Green Indonesia" agenda. He acknowledged QNET's consistent dedication to preserving Bali's coastal ecosystems, noting their past efforts in planting thousands of mangrove seedlings in vulnerable areas.
This partnership between QNET and Kodim 1611/Badung, which began in 2022, highlights a shared commitment to safeguarding Bali's coastline. QNET Indonesia Director Ganang Rindarko emphasized the ongoing synergy, mentioning that after planting and nurturing over 4,000 mangrove seedlings, the focus is now on diligent maintenance and the introduction of new saplings. He noted the critical need for ongoing care, as coastal mangroves are susceptible to natural elements and human impact.
Mangroves play a vital role in coastal protection, serving as natural barriers that buffer wave energy and mitigate erosion. They also foster vibrant ecosystems that support local fisheries and offer potential for tourism and scientific research. Over the past four years, QNET's commitment has led to the planting of more than 4,000 mangrove saplings in Bali's Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park, with the local Batu Lumbang fisherman group responsible for essential daily care. This environmental stewardship aligns with QNET's global "QNET Green Legacy" reforestation campaign, launched in 2021.
The collaborative efforts of QNET and Kodim 1611/Badung were recently recognized with a gold award at the 2024 Indonesian SDGs Award (ISDA) for their significant contributions to coastal ecosystem preservation. The event saw participation from local government officials and environmental agencies, underscoring a unified commitment to environmental guardianship and the conservation of mangrove habitats. This initiative also contributes to the broader understanding of how such partnerships can foster resilient coastal communities, as acknowledged by the UN's "Building with Nature" initiative in Indonesia, which highlights the success of mangrove restoration projects in enhancing coastal protection and community well-being.
