Edited by: Tetiana Martynovska 17

Archaeologists discovered early Christian artifacts at the ancient city of Olympos (O-lim-pos), located in the Kumluca district of Antalya, Turkey, in June 2025.

The team found mosaic floors with geometric patterns, floral designs, and Greek inscriptions. Some inscriptions included the names of early church benefactors.

An inscription near the entrance reads, "Only those on the righteous path may enter here." The artwork dates back to the fifth century A.D.

Olympos, established in the Hellenistic period, was inhabited during the Roman and Byzantine eras. The site has been under investigation for the past four years.

Important discoveries include a bishop's palace, monumental tombs, a Roman bridge, and Byzantine houses. These findings shed light on the early Christian history of the region.

Gökçen Kurtuluş Öztaşkın (Gok-chen Kur-tu-luhs Oz-tash-kin), the excavation director, stated that these finds confirm Olympos as one of the richest ancient cities in the Lycia region in terms of mosaic flooring.
