BNB Chain's Pascal Hardfork Enhances Efficiency, Outpaces Ethereum and Solana in DEX Volume

Edited by: Yuliya Shumai

On March 20, BNB Chain implemented the Pascal Hardfork, a significant upgrade designed to improve transaction efficiency and EVM compatibility. This update integrates Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 7702, enabling features like gas abstraction and smart contract wallets. This positions BNB Chain as an early adopter of this EVM enhancement. EIP-7702 introduces smart contract wallets, allowing for gasless transactions and smoother asset swaps. Node operators, validators, exchanges, and infrastructure providers were advised to update their systems to maintain synchronization. The upgrade coincides with a surge in DEX activity on BNB Chain, recording $2.13 billion in transactions over the past 24 hours, surpassing Ethereum ($1.75 billion) and Solana ($1.48 billion), according to DeFiLlama. Weekly trading volume on BNB Chain has also climbed nearly 60%, reaching $13.56 billion.
