Starlink Secures License, Tesla Prepares India Entry: Elon Musk's Expansion Plans

Edited by: Olga Sukhina

In June 2025, Starlink received a license from India's Department of Telecommunications to provide satellite internet services. This allows Starlink to expand its services to underserved areas in India. The company is also partnering with major Indian telecom operators.

Tesla plans to enter the Indian market with the Model Y, importing units from its Berlin Gigafactory. The first showroom will be in Mumbai, with operations starting in the second half of 2025. The Model Y is expected to cost approximately ₹27.7 lakh.

Elon Musk is in discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about collaboration in space, technology, and sustainable development. Despite challenges, there is significant potential in India's satellite broadband and electric vehicle markets.
