A 2010 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, formerly part of Michael Schumacher's personal collection, has fetched a record €64,800 at an RM Sotheby's auction. This sale significantly exceeded its estimated price of €25,000 to €35,000, nearly doubling expectations and underscoring the strong market for memorabilia linked to the seven-time Formula 1 champion.
The motorcycle, identified by race number 77, was custom-modified by Holzhauer Racing Performance (HRP) for Schumacher's private track days. Enhancements include an electronic control unit managing traction, wheelie, and slide control, along with specialized components like an airbox, oil cooler, handlebars, a quickshifter, and a titanium Akrapovič exhaust system. The bike has accumulated 3,752 kilometers, indicating its use by Schumacher during his hiatus from Formula 1, a period when he also participated in motorcycle racing, achieving a podium in the German Superbike Championship (IDM) in 2008. The sale also included a signed Schuberth helmet and motorcycle gloves, both bearing Schumacher's autograph. The auction, part of the "The Champions – Schumacher and F1 Legends" collection, saw intense international bidding, reflecting Schumacher's global appeal. This sale follows similar trends in the collector's market, such as Casey Stoner's 2007 Ducati Desmosedici GP7 selling for approximately €486,000 in 2024 and Brad Binder's 2023 KTM RC16 fetching a substantial price in May 2025, demonstrating a consistent demand for items connected to racing icons.
