Egypt is launching a digital visa-on-arrival system at Cairo International Airport in mid-June 2025 to modernize immigration and enhance the travel experience.
The program replaces paper procedures with self-service kiosks and a mobile app, supporting Egypt's Sustainable Tourism Strategy 2030.
The system reduces airport congestion and improves convenience, allowing tourists to apply for visas directly upon landing using kiosks that support multiple languages.
A mobile app will also be available, accepting secure digital payments and generating QR codes for immigration.
The digital visa-on-arrival program is vital for Egypt's Sustainable Tourism Strategy 2030, aiming to welcome thirty million tourists annually by 2028.
The streamlined process will attract spontaneous travelers and boost short-term arrivals.
Egypt has also extended its 96-hour free transit visa through April 2026, aligning with the new digital visa program to attract more visitors.
The pilot rollout is welcomed by experts, enhancing the traveler experience and positioning Egypt as a forward-thinking destination, reducing wait times and improving satisfaction.
If successful, the system will expand to airports in tourist hotspots like Luxor, Aswan, Sharm El Sheikh, and Hurghada.
Egypt's investment in digital innovation charts a path toward a more accessible tourism future.
