Bulgaria is strategically shifting its focus from being a budget destination to offering high-quality tourism experiences. This announcement was made by Ilin Dimitrov, Secretary to the President for Education, Culture and Tourism, at the BG Tourism - Summer 2025 forum in Pomorie.
Dimitrov noted the changing demographics of tourists, with an increase in French and Italian professionals working in Bulgarian hotels. This shift necessitates a move towards a higher quality tourism product, moving beyond the low-budget image. The BG Tourism - Summer 2025 forum, organized by BTA, aims to define specific messages for promoting Bulgarian tourism.
He emphasized that quality encompasses accessibility, connectivity, infrastructure, vision, medical care, and staff training. Monitoring and assessing these elements are crucial for maintaining high standards. The forum gathers representatives from state institutions, municipalities, the tourism industry, NGOs, scientists, and media to discuss strategies for promoting tourism in Bulgaria for the upcoming season.
