Mobile App for Anxiety Treatment Shows Promise

Edited by: Liliya Shabalina

A new mobile app, Symptoms-Jit, is being tested as a tool to help people manage anxiety disorders. The app allows therapists to monitor patients and provide personalized support through their smartphones.

The project, led by researchers at Labpsitec, aims to recruit 100-150 adults experiencing anxiety, agoraphobia, social anxiety, specific phobias, or panic disorders. Participants will receive free treatment, potentially including the app, depending on their assigned condition.

The treatment involves 12 sessions and focuses on providing information about anxiety, addressing negative thoughts, and gradually exposing individuals to feared stimuli. The app is designed to be a gradual therapy to confront fears. The researchers hope to integrate this approach into public healthcare systems.
