EU reforms to improve the lives of pets

Edited by: Екатерина С.

The European Union is making the largest changes in the field of pet care and protection in 20 years. One key change is mandatory microchipping for all cats and dogs. This helps keep track of them and fight illegal pet trade. There will also be a ban on painful procedures like ear cropping and tail docking.

The rules also set standards for breeding. There are limits on how many litters a female can have. Breeding between close relatives will be prohibited. Online pet sales will also be regulated, requiring microchipping and registration.

These new rules are designed to protect pets. They also aim to make it easier to find lost pets and stop illegal breeding. The EU is working to make sure all pets are treated well.

The European Parliament has approved the new rules. They are expected to be put into place soon. This is a big step for the welfare of cats and dogs in the EU!
