Dogs at work: a growing trend in french companies

Edited by: Екатерина С.

The celebration of World Dog at Work Day on June 24th highlights a growing trend: integrating dogs into the professional environment. This practice, known as "pets at work," is becoming increasingly popular among French companies.

In 2025, having dogs in the office has become a reality for many businesses in France. A 2024 study showed that 9% of French companies now allow employees to bring their dogs to work, a number that continues to rise.

The benefits of having dogs present at work are numerous. They help reduce employee stress, fostering a more relaxed work environment. Dogs also serve as catalysts for interactions between colleagues, strengthening team cohesion. Studies have shown that employees with their pets are more motivated and less likely to experience burnout.

Several French companies have successfully adopted this practice. Wamiz, a Parisian company, has implemented a schedule to manage the presence of 11 dogs in the office, promoting a friendly work atmosphere. Mars Petcare initiated the "Better cities for pets" program in 2019, allowing employees to bring their dogs to work, strengthening the bond between employees and their four-legged companions.

In France, legislation does not prohibit the presence of animals at work, except in specific sectors. These include healthcare establishments or companies in the food sector. However, hygiene and safety rules must be followed. World Dog at Work Day underscores the growing importance of this practice in France.

It reflects an evolution in mentalities and work styles, where the well-being of employees and their pets is at the heart of companies' concerns.
