Dog in the office: a growing trend in Spain

Edited by: Екатерина С.

Bringing dogs to the office is becoming more common in Spain. Many companies are adopting 'pet-friendly' policies. This is to improve employee well-being and create a more pleasant work environment.

Nestlé Purina is a great example. Since 2016, employees can bring their dogs to work. This program, called 'Pets at Work,' has reduced stress and improved mood. It also strengthens the company culture.

In 2025, Nestlé launched the 'Pasear Juntos es Mejor' project. This project welcomes students with intellectual disabilities to their Barcelona offices. They are trained as dog walkers, increasing their job opportunities.

Barcelona is also making it easier for people and animals to coexist. Nestlé's headquarters in Esplugues de Llobregat have special areas for dogs. These include preferred elevators and garden areas. This creates a more inclusive and comfortable work environment.

The 'Barómetro de Hábitos y Tendencias de los Pet Parents' from 2025 shows more people in Spain and Portugal own pets. Many households see pets as family members. This cultural change has increased the demand for workplaces that allow dogs.

These initiatives show a big change in how dogs are seen and included in Spanish workplaces. It promotes a more harmonious environment and recognizes the benefits for both employees and companies.
