Karnataka State Open University Launches Indian Institute of Future Skills in 2025

The Indian Institute of Future Skills (IIFS) was inaugurated at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) on May 31, 2025, by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. This initiative, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, aims to provide students with industry-relevant skills in emerging technologies, preparing them for careers in fields like Electric Vehicles, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics.

Governor Gehlot emphasized the importance of skill-based training for India's youth, highlighting the Central Government's efforts to enhance employability through various training programs. He encouraged universities to collaborate with government bodies to foster startups and create employment opportunities. The Governor lauded the joint efforts of KSOU, the National Skill Development Corporation, Skill India, and the Ethnotech Group in establishing the IIFS.

Dr. Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji stressed the need for skill development in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, noting that only a small percentage of the population currently possesses the required job skills. He also called for a global outlook in skill development, emphasizing ethical values alongside technical education.
