Philippines Strengthens Education Ties with Vietnam and Laos, Focusing on Early Childhood Education and Teacher Training

Education Secretary Sonny Angara recently visited Vietnam and Laos, reinforcing the Philippines' dedication to regional educational advancement. The visits highlighted key areas such as early childhood education, teacher training, and addressing challenges like school dropouts.

In Vietnam, Angara praised the country's focus on early childhood education and its commitment to building a professional workforce. He also admired Vietnam's inclusive education model and its strategies for reaching all learners, as well as its emphasis on career-readiness and AI.

During his visit to Laos, Angara discussed mutual challenges, including school dropouts and improving teacher quality. The Lao Ministry of Education expressed admiration for the Philippines' teacher education programs, proposing a future learning exchange on the subject.

Angara also highlighted the Department of Education's School-Based Feeding Program and the revised K-12 curriculum. He reaffirmed the value of the Southeast Asia Primary Learning Metrics (SEA-PLM) initiative for tracking progress and informing policies.
