Orchard Hill College Achieves 'Outstanding' Ofsted Rating for SEND Education

Orchard Hill College (OCH), a prominent special educational needs and disability (SEND) school, has earned its third consecutive 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating. Inspectors lauded the college for exceptionally preparing students for their future endeavors.

The college supports over 500 students aged 16 to 25 across London and Surrey. OCH received top marks in all inspection categories, including education quality and leadership.

The curriculum is tailored and ambitious, leading to students making significant progress. Teaching methods include sensory stories, sign language, and visual aids. Real-life modeling prepares students for the workplace.

Assistive technology is used to enhance communication and independence, extending learning beyond the classroom. Students demonstrate high engagement and respect, with staff managing behavior supportively.

The college offers enrichment activities like theatre trips and a college-run nightclub. The curriculum covers healthy relationships, sexual health, and emotional well-being. Kelly Phillips, Executive Principal, expressed pride in the recognition of their high-quality education.
