Archaeologists have revealed a monumental gateway to an ancient Greek temple along Egypt's Nile, a discovery that may reshape historical narratives. This significant find occurred at the Athribis site, located 125 miles north of Luxor, as part of a 21-year excavation led by a joint Egyptian-German team.
The newly uncovered 150-foot-wide pylon, constructed from sandstone blocks, connects the Ptolemaic Dynasty—descendants of Alexander the Great's generals—to Egypt's ancient heritage. The excavation has also revealed walls adorned with high relief carvings and over 1,200 hieroglyphic inscriptions, hinting at the site's historical importance.
