European Exchanges Retain USDT Amid Coinbase Delisting

As of December 17, 2024, major cryptocurrency exchanges in Europe, including Binance, Crypto.com, and Kraken, continue to support Tether's USDt stablecoin, despite Coinbase's recent announcement to delist it for European customers. Coinbase's delisting, effective December 13, was made to comply with the upcoming Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), which will be fully implemented on December 30, 2024.

While Coinbase has classified USDT as a MiCA-restricted stablecoin since October, European authorities have yet to clarify its compliance status. Other exchanges, such as OKX and Bitpanda, have not confirmed any plans to delist USDT, although OKX previously announced a delisting for March 2024, focusing on euro-based trading pairs.

The approaching MiCA deadline may prompt further decisions on USDT's availability across European platforms in the coming weeks.
