On October 4, 2024, twenty-two Japanese utilities and trading houses announced their participation in an initiative aimed at reducing methane emissions from liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply chains. This coalition, known as the Coalition for LNG Emission Abatement Toward Net Zero, includes all major power utilities in Japan, along with prominent trading firms such as Mitsubishi Corp. and Mitsui & Co.
