KUCHING (Feb 4): The Capricorn Investment Group from the United States is exploring opportunities in Sarawak, particularly in the renewable energy and technology sectors.
Capricorn officials met with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on February 3 to discuss potential collaborations. InvestSarawak CEO Timothy Ong, who accompanied the group, stated that discussions centered around Capricorn's support for Sarawak's development in new energy, battery, and space industries.
Capricorn, known for early investments in companies like Tesla and SpaceX, sees Sarawak as a strategic location for green energy and digital technology investments.
Discussions included the development of a prosperity action plan, new energy initiatives, and potential collaboration in the semiconductor sector and digital parks in Sarawak. A follow-up meeting is scheduled to further detail potential collaborations.
