AI System Enhances Soccer Training

Researchers at Perm National Research Polytechnic University have developed an AI-based technology to evaluate the training quality of young soccer players. This program aims to enhance training efficiency and automate the processing of testing results.

The AI system monitors individual performance of each athlete simultaneously, allowing coaches to automate quality control. It utilizes a 2D skeleton model to track movements and interactions with sports equipment, but a 3D approach is being implemented for greater accuracy.

The program identifies 34 key points on the human body, including joints and limbs. Cameras positioned on the training field capture exercises, which are analyzed to identify errors in technique. This analysis helps coaches refine training strategies.

Initial experiments have shown the AI's effectiveness in detecting movement errors, such as maintaining proper posture during exercises. Researchers plan to expand the range of analyzed exercises and conduct comprehensive tests in real training environments.
