Peugeot E-408: A New Electric SUV Rivaling Tesla

Peugeot has expanded its electric lineup with the new E-408, a crossover SUV designed to compete directly with the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2.

The E-408 features a single electric motor producing 210 hp and 345 Nm of torque, paired with a 58.2 kWh battery that delivers an estimated range of 453 km. This range is suitable for typical daily commutes of around 45 km.

Measuring 4.69 meters in length and 1.85 meters in width, the E-408 is built on the E-EMP2 platform, which allows for a larger battery and improved interior space due to a low center of gravity.

The interior follows Peugeot's i-Cockpit design philosophy, emphasizing ergonomics and comfort with a smaller steering wheel and two 10-inch displays. The infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and includes a voice assistant powered by ChatGPT for various vehicle functions.

Additional features include a high-quality Focal audio system, ambient lighting with eight colors, and enhanced sound insulation. Safety is prioritized with multiple assistance systems utilizing five cameras and three radars.

Peugeot is accepting orders for the E-408 in two trims: Allure and GT, with the latter offering advanced features such as matrix headlights and Level 2 autonomy.
