Anna Wintour Denies Kate Middleton Vogue Cover Rumors, Confirms She's Not Retiring

Dame Anna Wintour, the legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue, was bestowed with the Companion of Honour by King Charles for her contributions to the fashion world. During a special investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, February 4, Wintour addressed rumors surrounding a potential Vogue cover featuring Princess Kate Middleton.

When asked about the speculation, Wintour dismissed it, stating, "Yeah, I don't know where those [rumors] have come from, do you?" The Daily Mail had reported in late January that Princess Kate had been offered the global covers of Vogue, with Wintour personally appealing to her and granting her complete creative control over the shoot.

Wintour also addressed retirement rumors during her visit, assuring everyone that she has no intention of stepping down. "The last time I was here The Queen gave me a medal and we both agreed that we had been doing our job a very long time," Wintour said, adding, "this morning His Majesty asked me if this meant I was going to stop working and I said firmly, no."

Wintour's Companion of Honour award recognizes her significant contributions to the arts, particularly her long-standing role at Vogue, which she has held since 1988. She has previously been honored by Queen Elizabeth II and has attended numerous royal events, including London Fashion Week 2018, where she sat front row with the late monarch.
