61st Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival Kicks Off with Star-Studded Ceremony on October 5, 2024

The 61st International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival launched on October 5, 2024, with a glamorous red carpet event at the Cam Piramit Congress Center, hosted by actress Sedef Avcı. This year’s festival, running until October 12, celebrates Turkish cinema and honors notable figures in the industry.

During the opening ceremony, five prominent actors—Erdal Özyağcılar, Selçuk Yöntem, Şerif Sezer, Müjdat Gezen, and Işıl Yücesoy—received Honorary Awards, while actors Aras Bulut İynemli and Farah Zeynep Abdullah were recognized with Achievement Awards. İynemli expressed pride in receiving his award from veteran actress Perihan Savaş, while Abdullah dedicated hers to the resilient women in the industry.

Antalya Mayor Muhittin Böcek emphasized the festival's significance, stating, "The Golden Orange represents life itself." He reflected on the festival's return after a pause due to the pandemic, highlighting its importance in revitalizing the Turkish cinema sector.

With 12 films competing in the National Feature Film Competition, and additional categories for short and documentary films, the festival aims to showcase the best of Turkish cinema while fostering a spirit of community and resilience within the industry.
